Call for papers

PACWorld Conference Latin America 2012

Florianopolis, Brazil

21 – 23 November 2012
Protection, automation and control specialists from industry and academia around the world are invited to submit abstracts for the PAC World 2012 Latin America Conference in Florianopolis, Brazil 21-23 November 2012 on the following topics:

1. The Future of Electricity – PAC challenges of today and tomorrow
2. PAC and Smart Grid
3. System analysis
4. Standardization and harmonization of system models
5. Wide area monitoring and control
6. Communications
7. IEC 61850, applications and benefits
8. Standard protocols and common data formats
9. Cyber security
10. Multifunctional Protection IEDs – acceptable functional integration
11. Advanced protection, automation and control functions
12. Adaptive protection
13. System Integrity Protection Schemes (SIPS)
14. Synchrophasors, applications and benefits
15. Testing of devices, distributed functions and systems
16. Power quality
17. Automatic fault analysis
18. Substation automation
19. Distribution automation
20. Home automation
21. Impact of wind power on PAC
22. Distributed Energy Resources integration
23. Asset management and condition monitoring
24. Engineering
25. Visualization, situational awareness
26. Power system education challenges for professionals and administrators
27. Any other protection, automation and control related topic

All abstracts should be around 500 words. The authors should keep in mind that the focus of their papers should be on presenting challenges, applications, solutions and ideas related to the above topics in a non-commercial and practical manner. Preference will be given to papers that discuss the functionality and performance requirements of the application, the communications requirements and how the application fits within distributed multi-domain smart grid architecture and interacts with other applications in the smart grid hierarchy.

Each abstract should be submitted as a Word document in English, Portuguese or Spanish and include the following information:

- Topic # (from the list above) that the paper is associated with
- Paper title
- Authors' names
- Authors' affiliation
- Country
- E-mail address of the main author

Abstracts that do not contain this information will not be considered for acceptance.

Papers accepted for oral presentation will be included in the program. The selection of these papers will be based on the full papers submitted by the authors after the initial abstract acceptance.

- Papers submission: 30 September 2012
