Apresentação Post Session - IEDs Interoperability Tests Using Process Bus

Segue a apresentação do trabalho IEDs Interoperability Tests Using Process Bus Application Based on IEC61850-9-2 and Merging Units.

Summary

The worldwide standard IEC 61850 is now widely accepted by several companies for generation and transmission of Latin America and is already a reality in routine of protection and automation engineers. Now a day says that in the last decades it is the most important technology in automation systems for electrical power plants. A special aspect of the implementation of the standard is the possibility to use IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Device) from different manufacturers on the same network, determining system interoperability.

This theme has been one of the preferential subjects of the technical events around the world, including in CIGRE. It has been of study a topic and highlighted in discussions between specialists in all the protection and automations forums of the world.

This technical work has presented the main concepts, applications and technical characteristics of the Merging Unit (MU), applied to the process bus. The main purpose of the MU is to provide sampled analog values with the information of current and voltage transformers for protection and metering IEDs.

This work also presents tests using GOOSE messages and signals sampled in the network (SV), applied on systems with full implementation of IEC61850-9.2 LE. Shows the results of interoperability tests using different manufacturers IEDs operating with conventional technologies, using hard wiring and analog signals of voltage and current, and operating with samples values with the full implementation of the standard IEC61850-9.2 LE. The samples values (SV) are issued in IED from a test set and also from a commercial Merging Unit applied to the system with interoperating IED from different manufacturers. The results are evaluated compare the IEDs performance feeds with analogs inputs, sample values from the test set and sample values from the IMU.
